Messy Motherhood

If you follow me on Facebook, you saw the picture that I posted yesterday. This one. The one of that adorably mischievous not-quite-2-year old, who tore through our homeschool cabinet like a category 5 hurricane. I didn't post the picture of her poop on the floor (you're welcome), but that happened yesterday, too.

Two year olds are hard, y'all! Scratch that… 18 months- about age 4 are hard. This is a tough season, but it's sweet. My baby is learning, and growing, and talking, and voicing her opinions, and having a ball. I'm so very thankful for her and I love being her mama, but some days are really tough.

After I got over the initial shock of that disaster in our spare bedroom, I had a minor (ok.. slightly major) pity party. But then I sat down on the floor right there beside her and started picking up her mess. Sorting through 15 million different types of beads was not on my agenda yesterday, but the Lord so sweetly used that mess to teach me something.

I make messes daily. Some are bigger than others, but every single day I mess up. And He sits down right beside me and gives me new grace and mercy. And then He teaches me. In this season of motherhood, He's continuing to teach me that in my weakness, He is so strong!

This is my Jesus. He is actively walking with me through this crazy journey of motherhood.  He is the One who loves me enough to move heaven and earth to remind me of His goodness and grace right in the middle of cleaning up messes. He is so good!
